Difficulty Changer is a mod that allows you to change the difficulty of your world and of your character. There are 7 potion-type items that you can craft at any Demon or Crimson Altar, 4 of which change the world difficulty to Normal, Expert, Master, and Journey (which also changes your character difficulty to Journey.) The other 3 potions change your character between Softcore, Mediumcore, or Hardcore (changing the world difficulty to Normal if it is currently Journey when the potion is used.) To re-iterate, the potions are crafted for free at any Demon or Crimson Altar. Version 1.0.5 Changes - Probably resolved issues when used on Multiplayer.
