================================================== Better Instruments v1.5 ================================================== Welcome to Better Instruments – the mod that brings the magic of music to Terraria! I was personally annoyed with Terraria's instruments where you were not able to do a few things. 1. Play multiple notes quickly ( besides the drums ) 2. Only play a select amount of notes This mod aims to fix at least one of those issues. Currently has a Piano and a Music Player. -------------------------------------------------- Key Features: -------------------------------------------------- • On-Screen Piano: - Left-click with the Piano to open a piano at the bottom of your screen. - Each key shows the keyboard letter that plays it, the same layout as Virtual Piano, so their sheets work here. - Hold Shift for the black keys, or click the keys with your mouse. - While the piano is open your keys only play notes, so you won't move, swap items or set off other mods' hotkeys. Enter still opens chat, and Esc puts the piano away. - A volume slider on the piano sets how loud you hear pianos, yours and other players'. • MIDI Keyboards: - Plug in a MIDI keyboard or controller and play it while holding the Piano. Works on Windows, Mac and Linux with nothing extra to install. - Softer key presses play quieter, and other players hear what you play. - You can walk around while you play, since a MIDI keyboard doesn't use your game controls. • MIDI Integration: - Use the Music Player, or right-click it in your inventory, to open a panel for selecting and playing your own MIDI files. - The panel shows the song that's playing and how far along it is. Click a song to pick it, or double-click it to play it right away. - Songs keep playing as long as the Music Player is in your inventory, so you can explore, build and fight while one plays. - A volume slider in the panel sets how loud you hear songs, yours and other players'. - Both volumes are also in Settings > Mod Configuration > Better Instruments. -------------------------------------------------- Notes: -------------------------------------------------- • Items cost 1 Dirt Block for now • Older versions played notes based on where you clicked on the screen, like the Magical Harp does. The new on-screen piano feels less like vanilla Terraria, but in my opinion it's a lot better. -------------------------------------------------- Added: -------------------------------------------------- v1.5 • A cleaner MIDI player that shows what's playing, with a progress bar, double-click to play and a Refresh button v1.3 • Volume sliders for the piano and for MIDI songs, also in the mod's settings • MIDI songs are only played with the Music Player now v1.2 • Play the Piano with a MIDI keyboard or controller v1.1 • New Music Player item that opens the MIDI player and keeps songs playing while it's in your inventory v1.0 • New on-screen piano you play with your keyboard, replacing click-to-play • Keys light up as they play, including songs from the MIDI player v0.9 • Updated for the latest tModLoader • Fixed multiplayer playback so every nearby player hears the notes • Fixed the MIDI player on Linux and Mac v0.8 • Updated sending the location of where notes are being sent from... v0.7 • Updated the note playback handling.
