Important Note: This is not meant as some damning indictment of the Isaac modding scene, nor is it meant as an 100% bulletproof safeguard. This is mainly for my own peace of mind and for those who want to be extra careful. Stay safe out there! Anyway, howdy! This is a rudimentary antivirus software that can be run to scan downloaded mods before opening the game with the "--luadebug" flag enabled. What is Luadebug? Normally, Isaac's modding API has guardrails in place that prevent certain mod libraries from being used due to potential for malicious behavior. These libraries include file input/output, package management, debug functionality, network connectivity, etc. However, the end user can put "--luadebug" in the startup options to bypass these guardrails. There's nothing wrong with that on paper, but with the increasing number of AI-generated mods that require externally downloaded DLL files or enabling luadebug to function, there is the possibility of someone inserting malicious code into their mod and causing problems for the entire community. Furthermore, because "luadebug" is a startup flag, there's no way for another mod to reliably intercept the other mods before the game starts. If there's going to be a fix to this, it would have to be something outside the game before it launches. So What's This? This mod is a small Python script that checks all mods in the mods folder for suspicious function calls, and gives the option to disable them automatically. If you've never used Python before, you can download it here : https://www.python.org/downloads/ For more detailed instructions on how to run the script, I'd recommend going into the README file in the mod folder. Again, to be clear, this isn't meant as some weird moral imperative, but if you want to be extra cautious with regards to mod security (like me :P) and you want to be proactive to prevent a Meccha Chameleon-esque modding nightmare scenario, it's a nice option to have.
